Sunday: Third Sunday after Pentecost

Revised Common Lectionary – Year A

Text: Matthew 10:24-39, Romans 6:1b-11

Dollar Store Item: “Do you give up?” A story about a riddle that you couldn’t solve, or a brother that teases you, or playing a game of hide and seek, and you have to “give up.”

The Take Away: We are called to give up… give up our fear, our worry; give up trying to do it by ourselves; give up measuring our love. We love all like we love Jesus… with everything.

Narrative Lectionary

Text: Job 14:7-15; 19:23-27

Dollar Store Item: Magic Trick you can make.

The Take Away: “I hope this works…” Hope that doesn’t beyond reason, but God’s love is faithful, and Job has hope that God sees and hears our cries.
