Sunday: Second Sunday after Pentecost

Revised Common Lectionary – Year B

Text: Mark 2:23—3:6 ; Deuteronomy 5:12-15

Dollar Store Item: A blanket, a book to read before bed, a night light

The Take Away: Getting ready to take a nap, we talk about rest and the need to rest. About how God’s people, as slaves in Egypt didn’t get a chance to rest, let alone a day off!! People are mad because they think the Disciple’s are working on the Sabbath. But Jesus reminds everyone – God knows rest is good for us, and not just to be a mean parent.

Narrative Lectionary

Text: Luke 11:2-4

Dollar Store Item: Something you put on a shelf because it is special… you set it apart.

The Take Away: God is Holy, and set apart as the best! We are made holy in baptism, set apart for a purpose. God says you are loved, so guess what… You are loved!
